Helen Mary McKeown - Birmingham, AL

Helen Mary McKeown is the managing resident attorney in the St. Petersburg, Florida office of Gathings Law. She hails from West Palm Beach, Florida, where she continued on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida in 1972. She is a 1976 graduate of Cumberland School of Law, Samford University, in Birmingham, Alabama. Ms. McKeown graduated summa cum laude from Cumberland, where she served as Editor of the Cumberland Law Review, as well as was a member of the Moot Court Board. For almost thirty years Ms. McKeown has been in private practice, specializing in serious personal injury law, products liability, and fraud.

Ms. McKeown is a member of the Florida Bar Association. She served for many years as the State Attorney in Pinellas County, Florida beginning in 1976.

Ms. McKeown has been voted AV Peer Review Rated, reaching the height of professional excellence. Having practiced law for many years, she is recognized through this rating for the highest levels of skill and integrity.

Through the years, Ms. McKeown has been involved in teaching Sunday School classes at her church, as well as participating in other community activities in her spare time. She has been married to fellow lawyer, Jon Barber, for over 25 years. They are very proud of their son, Sean, and daughter, Katie.
