After attending University of North Alabama in Florence, Kirby Farris worked with the Norfolk Southern Railway Corporation while attending night classes at the Birmingham School of Law, where he also taught as an associate professor.

He was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1994, and is a member of the American, Alabama, and Birmingham Bar Associations. He is also an Associate of the Trial Lawyers of America and a member of the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, where he has sat on the Board of Governors.

Farris is licensed to practice in the United States District Court of Colorado, the Supreme Court of Alabama, the State of Alabama and the United States Court of Appeals 11th circuit. He practices primarily in the areas of Personal Injury, Wrongful Death, Fair Labor Standards Act Litigation, Workers' Compensation, and Medical Malpractice.
