Overview
My practice is dedicated to the needs of families and small businesses. We represent clients in a variety of family law matters such as divorce, paternity, child custody, child support, dependency, surrogacy, adoption, terminations of parental rights, grandparent visitation, fathers’ rights, appeals, alimony, prenuptial agreements, post-nuptial agreements, wills and estates, and real estate and property division matters. Ms. James also concentrates her continuing legal education almost solely in the area of family law attending on average 24 hours of continuing legal education each year. Each member of our staff adheres to the highest standards of ethical conduct and provides caring and efficient services to our clients.
Prior to opening her own practice, Ms. James worked in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County, Alabama, Domestic Relations Division where she worked with the attorneys and judges who have literally written the books that are used by attorneys and judges statewide in their domestic relations practices.
Ms. James also serves as an adjunct professor at the Birmingham School of Law.

Volunteer Lawyer Program
The Volunteer Lawyer Program is a service of the Alabama State Bar. The staff of the Volunteer Lawyer Program prescreen clients and refer them to lawyers who are part of the program. Each lawyer commits to taking two of these cases each year.
