Tara Helms - Huntsville, AL

Tara Helms grew up on a small farm in Blount County, Alabama. One of her strengths as a lawyer is her ability to relate to people from all walks of life. She received her law degree with honors from the Cumberland School of Law in 1998, where she served on Law Review and the National Moot Court Team and became the first lawyer in her family. Mrs. Helms was inducted into Cumberland's Curia Honoris Honor Society and the Order of Barristers upon graduation. Mrs. Helms was admitted to the Bar of the State of Alabama in 1998.

Mrs. Helms has devoted her law practice to representing and protecting the rights of survivors of accidents causing serious injuries and victims of wrongful death. Mrs. Helms believes that the most important role for a lawyer is to follow the course of action that is best for the client. Mrs. Helms appreciates the fact that personal injury cases can be stressful for clients and their families. With that in mind, she welcomes the opportunity to go to trial, but also advocates resolving cases if the resolution is fair and promotes the well-being of the client. Mrs. Helms has had a first-hand experience with a family member who has been involved in a lawsuit after being seriously injured in a car wreck. Therefore, she has a deep understanding of the emotional impact of dealing with a client's injury, as well as how difficult and stressful a personal injury case can be for clients and their families.

She has represented injured individuals and their families in a wide range of injury and wrongful death claims, including car and truck accidents, workplace accidents, accidents resulting from defective construction, products liability and defective drugs, and medical-related cases including nursing home abuse and neglect. Mrs. Helms is devoted to working with injury victims and their families during their time of need. She has represented hundreds of individuals within the State of Alabama, as well as across the United States.

Mrs. Helms is a sustaining member of the Alabama Association for Justice, a member of the Huntsville and Alabama Bar Associations, and the American Association for Justice. Mrs. Helms also Chairs the Women's Caucus of the Alabama Association for Justice and serves on the Board of Directors for that organization She has also written articles which have been published in the quarterly Journal of the Association.

Mrs. Helms volunteers in community service projects dedicated to aiding underprivileged and injured persons. Mrs. Helms is very active in the Christian Women's Job Corp ("CWJC") which is a faith-based non-profit organization. Mrs. Helms is married to Jimmy Helms and has two girls. She lives with her family in Arab, Alabama.
