Christine was nothing short of phenomenal in my case. I was wrongly accused of a crime that threatened to end all I had worked so hard to achieve. I recognize when an attorney has gone above and beyond in prep and in execution -- and that she had. Throughout the jury trial, she and her team (Madison and Chelsea) were acutely prepared. During the deliberations, Megan was a strong reinforcement. Christine gave selflessly of herself to ensure that I was vindicated. I couldn't have been more pleased in her performance from the inception of the charge, to the negotiations, to the actual trial. Chris, I can't thank you enough for your stellar performance in my case. You are amazing and I am certain of two things: 1) noone could have done a better job and 2) you have earned every bit of the reputation you have acquired for being a high profiled and skilled attorney. Thank you!

I live in Decatur, AL which is at the whole other end of the state from where their firm is located, but I googled and researched the best lawyer in the state of Alabama that handled cases involving bullying within the school systems and also cyber bullying. I needed an Education Lawyer that knew the laws, had previous experience in being an educator themselves, and had extensive knowledge in dealing with this type of case and I found it in Christine Hernandez!! We had our first consultation today (9/21/21) through just a regular phone call but Christine right away made the call/consultation feel as if we were in her office setting! She made me feel good about the outcome of my case right away! She was very straight up and honest with me and the one thing that I liked the most, is that after discussing the case with her I didn’t have to ask HER what I needed to do.. she told ME! When we hung up I wasn’t left with unanswered questions or feeling lost, like where do I even begin?! We came up with a game plan and a tentative schedule to follow so that she would have the proper documents to fully be able to represent me and increase our chances of a better outcome of winning our case. Christine is a GOD send!! Looking forward to having her represent me! Best personable attorney I’ve ever came across.

I Paid Nearly $50,000 and Was Misled Every Step of the Way by Attorney Christine Cassie Hernandez I hired attorney Christine Cassie Hernandez to represent me in a criminal defense case. From the very beginning, she repeatedly told me that my case was “winnable” and assured me that she could get it dismissed or beat it at trial. Based on her confidence, I decided to hire her and ultimately paid her close to $50,000 in legal fees. Throughout the case, she spoke as though victory was guaranteed. However, her communication and transparency were inconsistent. She rarely provided detailed updates about strategy or discovery, and when I asked specific questions about the evidence or the witnesses, her answers were often vague or dismissive. She told me several times that there would be multiple witnesses testifying for the prosecution and the defense, and even claimed she had seen some of them in the courthouse hallway. Later, I discovered that some of those supposed witnesses were never actually on the witness list or scheduled to appear in court. On the morning of trial, everything changed. After months of her telling me that we could win, she suddenly said that the prosecution’s case was strong and that going to trial would be risky. That was the first time she acknowledged the seriousness of the evidence against me. At that point, she strongly encouraged me to take a plea deal instead of proceeding to trial. I felt cornered and confused because all of her previous advice had led me to believe we would win. During our conversations, she also discussed doing business with my company. She told me she was expanding her law office and building an adjacent space, and that she would use my company for the project. She made it sound like some of the money I had paid her for legal fees could come back through that business arrangement. I later learned that no such construction project was actually moving forward and that there was never any real plan to hire my company. When I agreed to take the plea deal, she explained it by saying that I could plead guilty while reserving the right to appeal. She made it sound simple — as if I could plead, avoid trial, and she would immediately begin the appeal process on my behalf. After I pled guilty and was sent to jail, she visited me once and told me that filing the appeal would cost an additional $25,000. This was the first time she ever mentioned that an appeal would not be included in the original $50,000 I had already paid. I told her that since it was her idea to take the plea and appeal instead of going to trial, she should handle the appeal without charging extra. She refused. In the end, I feel like I was misled and taken advantage of. I paid nearly $50,000, was told I could win, and then was pressured into taking a plea deal at the last minute. I now have a criminal record, no refund, and no appeal. Looking back, I believe she was more focused on collecting money than fighting my case. After my experience, I researched her online reviews and saw that many other clients have shared similar complaints about lack of honesty and professionalism. I wish I had seen those reviews before hiring her. I would strongly urge anyone considering her services to be extremely cautious, get all promises and scope of work in writing, and never rely solely on verbal assurances.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
