Overview
Family law cases are deeply personal, often life-changing, and always emotionally charged. At Donaldson Stewart, PC, we understand that family law is not just about legal outcomes—it’s about securing a future not just to survive, but to thrive. As a second-career attorney with real-life experience, I bring a unique perspective to my practice. I know what’s at stake, and I fight tirelessly to help my clients navigate these challenging times with confidence.
A Career Built on Dedication & Real-Life Experience
My journey to the legal profession was anything but conventional. I worked full-time while attending law school at night, driven by a relentless work ethic and a passion for advocacy. Before transitioning to family law, I served as a prosecutor in the Family Violence Unit of the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, where I handled domestic violence, homicide, and child abuse cases. That experience reinforced my commitment to protecting survivors and helping families find stability in the aftermath of difficult circumstances.
A Personal Understanding of Family Law
I don’t just practice family law—I’ve lived it. I’ve been through divorce myself, and I understand the challenges and successes of co-parenting with a former spouse firsthand. In addition, my wife and I are raising two children, including one with special needs. These experiences shape the way I approach my work—with empathy, strategic thinking, and a fierce commitment to securing the best possible outcomes for my clients and their children.
Mediate First. Litigate When Necessary.
At Donaldson Stewart, PC, we believe in pursuing non-litigated dispute resolution whenever possible. However, when litigation is unavoidable, I am a formidable advocate. With a deep command of the rules of evidence and procedure, I have a reputation for being one of the hardest-working attorneys in family law. I excel in trial preparation and strategy, ensuring that my clients are always prepared for the next step.
A Team That Cares | Whole Client Representation
At Donaldson Stewart, PC, we provide whole client representation, understanding that legal battles don’t happen in isolation. My colleagues and I offer a balanced approach—resolving cases amicably when possible and litigating effectively when necessary. Behind the scenes, I work with a world-class staff that is detail-oriented, reliable, and committed to providing exceptional service to our clients. We are known as friendly, ethical, and highly effective professionals who put our clients first.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
