Verified ClientHired Attorney 2017-2020Kim Staley was definitely in for the long haul with our case covering 2+ years. She patiently answered our calls promptly; was diligent, factual, with realistic/honest legal advice and recommendations. She was always willing to meet with us, while explaining the court experience as it related to our expectations. We believe we had the best attorney for a difficult case.

Hired Attorney 2023I paid $18,000+ for Kimberly Staley services as a family attorney and everything I wanted to improve is now worse after employing Kimberly Staley. My child support increased by 40% when I had one child who was emancipated over a year ago. I am now responsible for paying the attorney’s fees of the opposing party in the amount of $12,000. I was found fit as a parent, but I was not granted 50/50 custody of children above the age of 14 and want to be with me. While in court she was unable to function in the capacity of representing me effectively. A large amount of evidence was submitted from the opposing party, and this seems to overwhelm the capabilities of Kimberly Staley. I asked her about appealing this obvious one-sided, bias decision, “I would not do that, it would not work with this judge’s decision.” I asked again a couple of days later then Kim Staley’s response changed to $10,000…….. to appeal what she failed at after I paid her $18,000. Hire Kimberly Staley and you will lose money, and everything will be worse, please do not employ her legal services. Go to the website for Kimberly Staley and there it states Kimberly Staley as a “Lead Counsel Verified”, interesting. I can prove all my statements in this review. I served this country honorably for 24 years in 2 different wars after being paralyzed twice. I typically do not discuss my background. I need to because I have paid for all services on time, and I received a below standard product. In the court order, I am NOT found unfit as a parent. The court also stated, “The parties struggle in communication, and their parenting plan is vaguely written such that there are issues with the parties understanding of what the parenting plan requires.”………a parenting plan that was vaguely written and how am I punished for that?

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
