Hired Attorney 2018-2019Over $4,000 at $75/ hour through modest means project referral and what a waste of money!!! I needed a cheap lawyer and that’s exactly what I got, but with a huge side of BS. To start, I enjoyed Holly and she talks a big game, almost as big as she. Holly never met with me in person, never answered when I called and only did the bare a$$ minimum for my divorce. She is the Sal Goodman of attorneys!!!! She had no notary services, I had to do research and fight my own fight, without her help. She even tried to quit on me a week before my initial divorce hearing; saying she hurt her foot and got really sh!$&y with me when I called her out on not doing her job. She acts like she’s doing you a favor. Holly didn’t even show to my consent decree signing; totally worthless. I really have patience and tolerance for many things and especially people in the world. I understand things happens and things are never perfect, but Holly Marshall shouldn’t be an attorney, for anyone. She won’t do a damn thing, she’s as lazy as she looks!!!! When I was at my initial hearing and I FINALLY met her, she spent the whole time trying to gain another client waiting for his case to be called after mine. She did nothing for me or my divorce, I did everything and you will too, but you’ll get stuck with a bill for her time- Not yours!!!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
