Hired Attorney 2020I had never been in trouble with the law before. I ended up getting a DUI after a stupid mistake of drinking and driving after my mother passed away... it was a mess. Due to covid the case lingered for about a year and a half and I was dealing with a court appointed lawyer that really didn't care about anything I had to say. I eventually spent the money and hired Mitch and let me tell you this man helped me through the worst of my situation and I am resting easy now. Did he completely get my case dismissed? No, but I was an extreme dui but he got me the LESSER penalty by just advocating for me and my situation and I could clearly tell that he truly cared about me and my well being and my situation. Drunk driving is never okay and I never expected to just have a case dismissed or anything. However, he made sure that I had all the information and guidance I needed to put myself into a position where I could make my sentence less severe than max and from there, it was easy. My "court appointed attorney" if you could even call him that gave me zero advice. Mitchell Weinstein cares, he's a great attorney but also just a great man. Great communicator, great advice, great representation. Great everything. If you don't hire him, you're an idiot.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
