Overview
Rebecca A. Montoya was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she graduated with a Bachelor's in Psychology and Criminology from the University of New Mexico. Her journey in criminal defense began when she attended Arizona State University's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law. From day one, she dedicated herself to public service and being an advocate within the criminal justice system.
During her time in law school, Rebecca's dedication to criminal justice earned her the Arizona State Bar Criminal Justice Section's Future Practitioner Award. She also served as President of the Criminal Law Association, a senior fellow for the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project, was a member of the Mock Trial Team and was selected for the Order of the Barristers honor society.
Rebecca's hands-on experience in the legal arena is vast and varied. Internships at the Arizona Supreme Court's Administrative Office of the Courts, Community Legal Services, Maricopa County Office of the Public Defender, and the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the District of Arizona laid the foundation for her comprehensive understanding of the legal landscape. Completing the Public Defender Clinic equipped her with practical skills, allowing her to represent clients in diverse proceedings, from change of plea hearings to felony jury trials.
As a former Public Defender with the Maricopa County Office of the Public Defender, Rebecca Montoya brings a wealth of experience advocating for clients facing a spectrum of criminal charges, from misdemeanors to felonies. Her result-oriented approach, coupled with the ability to cultivate positive relationships with all involved parties, distinguishes her in the field. Rebecca collaborates seamlessly with investigators, health care professionals, probation officers, MVD personnel, court staff, law enforcement, prosecutors, victims, clients, and their loved ones.
Her passion for criminal law and unwavering commitment to justice set the stage for the creation of Allied Defense. Rebecca found herself disturbed by the profit-driven practices of other criminal law firms, and envisioned a legal haven where compassion, advocacy, and results converge. At Allied Defense, Rebecca A. Montoya is more than an attorney; she is your advocate, ally, and voice in the pursuit of justice. With unwavering dedication, she stands by her clients, ensuring their rights are protected and justice prevails.
