Overview
Virginia K. Draus joined Harris, Powers & Cunningham as an Associate Attorney in the fall of 2025, bringing a diverse professional background and strong commitment to advocacy.
Virginia earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Georgia College & State University, where she also trained as a classical vocalist. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor, graduating cum laude, from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 2021. During law school, she received a Certificate in Trial Advocacy and was awarded the Highest Pro Bono Distinction for her dedication to public service. Virginia also distinguished herself through her academic achievements, earning CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Professional Responsibility and White Collar Crime, and was selected to serve as a Teaching Assistant for Securities Regulation. Virginia was an active member of her law school community, competing in the Kaufman Memorial Securities Law Moot Court Competition and the Health Law Regulatory & Compliance Competition. She participated in the Women’s Law Student Association, sang with Law Cappella, volunteered as an instructor for CourtWorks, and was elected as a representative to the Student Bar Association.
After graduation, Virginia gained extensive courtroom experience as a Deputy County Attorney with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and later as an Assistant City Prosecutor for the City of Mesa. Her caseload was predominantly composed of vehicular crimes and crimes of domestic violence. Most recently, she worked for a local defense firm, representing licensed healthcare providers and institutions in medical negligence and wrongful death matters.
Virginia lives in the Phoenix metropolitan area with her husband and their two sons. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, live music, and camping and off-roading adventures with her family.
