1.0 out of 5 stars

I'm very disappointed with my representation from this law firm. I feel that it was a waste of time and money. The service was good up until the moment the case was over and the money stopped coming in. From that point on, I couldn't get Jeff to return a text or a phone call. It took me over 3 months to finally get a "response." I was very specific in my text and voice messages that I just wanted a quick follow-up phone call to discuss my options moving forward. But once he was done fulfilling his contractual obligation, he was no longer interested in my situation or anything that I had to say. I think the thousands of dollars I paid him to represent me should entitle me to a quick 5 minute follow-up phone call, but he didn't feel the same way. Needless to say, I felt disappointed and betrayed. Even with a fast food restaurant they'll still deal with you after they've taken your money, but unfortunately that's not the case with the Jacobson Law Firm.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
