Attorney Information
Overview
Mr. Caskey was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1975 and during his illustrious career spanning 50 years he has decided it was time to retire.
Mr. Caskey is the stepfather of attorney Dan Holzman. Mr. Caskey is the reason Dan Holzman became a lawyer and influenced him to become the person he is today. Mr. Caskey made Dan Holzman a named partner and the firm became Caskey & Holzman, which has flourished for almost 30 years, helping employees navigate difficult employment law issues.
Mr. Caskey graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. He later obtained his law degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
Mr. Caskey has maintained an AV (preeminent) Peer Review Rating in the Martindale-Hubbell national register for lawyers for more than 30 years. The LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings have been an integral part of Martindale-Hubbell's services to the legal community since 1887. The Peer Review Rating process, which evaluates lawyers in the United States and Canada, is solely based upon peer review. A Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating attests to a lawyer's legal ability and professional ethics, and reflects the confidential opinions of the Bar and the Judiciary.
Mr. Caskey is a life member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won million or multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements.
He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in California. He has tried dozen of Superior Court jury cases to conclusion and has recovered millions of dollars for his clients.
Mr. Caskey will now enjoy the good life reading about history and literature, going to flea markets and swap meets and spending time with his family (including his dog).
Mr. Caskey’s name lives on in the firm Caskey, Holzman & Barari, in tribute to the influence he has had on Dan Holzman, and for the countless individuals he has touched as a person and as a lawyer.
Thank you, Marshall Caskey, for everything you have done. Caskey, Holzman & Barari will continue to thrive because of the foundation you have created.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
