Attorney Information
Overview
N. Cory Barari is a 2013 graduate from The George Washington University Law School and formerly served as the judicial research attorney for the Honorable William Barry and Honorable Brian Currey of the Los Angeles Superior Court. Mr. Barari specializes in employment law and civil litigation, joining Caskey & Holzman in December 2016.
Mr. Barari distinguishes himself from other attorneys based on his ability to learn new and difficult subject matters quickly and to address problems with an objective, no-nonsense approach. In fact, Mr. Barari's sensible approach to disputes has led to the California Court of Appeal issuing two published opinions adopting his analysis and interpretation of the law, a rarity for any lawyer. Before joining Caskey & Holzman, Mr. Barari worked directly with judges at the Los Angeles Stanley Mosk Courthouse drafting proposed rulings on matters before the Court. Mr. Barari also worked as an attorney at Schonbrun DeSimone Seplow Harris & Hoffman, LLP, where he received strong mentoring from California Lawyer Attorney of the Year (CLAY) Award Winner V. James DeSimone. Mr. Barari excelled as a student as well, graduating from the University of California, Irvine with "magna cum laude" distinction in only 3 years before attending a top-25 law school in Washington, DC.
Through these experiences, Mr. Barari developed the ability to respond quickly to legal crises, to relate to clients and lawyers alike, and to convey complicated legal issues in a concise and accessible manner. Mr. Barari's skillsets have helped obtain millions of dollars for his clients on all matters of dispute, ranging from discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, failure to pay overtime and wages, failure to provide meal and rest breaks, and all other workplace, commercial, and personal disputes.
In his spare time, Mr. Barari is active with the Iranian American Bar Association (IABA) and the alumni organizations for both his alma mater. Mr. Barari likes to spend his free time traveling to new countries, at the gym, traveling to new countries, paddle-boarding, and going to sporting events with friends and family.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
