Attorney Information

Overview

Mia Munro is an employment civil rights attorney based in Los Angeles who has devoted her legal career to defending the rights of individuals in the workplace. She specializes in anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, whistleblower, and wage and hour laws. Mia has litigated her cases through trial and appeal and has secured millions of dollars in judgments and settlements for her clients.

Mia has been recognized for her achievements, being named a Super Lawyer by Southern California Super Lawyers from 2024 to 2026 and a 500 Leading Civil Rights and Plaintiff Employment Lawyer by Lawdragon from 2023 through 2025. Mia was also named a Rising Star Honoree from 2020 to 2022, which is an honor given to only 2.5% of practicing attorneys under the age of 40.

In 2024, the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC) recognized Mia as a Finalist for the Consumer Attorney of the Year award for her work in achieving a groundbreaking $100 million equal pay settlement with substantial injunctive relief for a class of women at Riot Games, Inc.

In 2026, Mia served on a trial team that secured a $52 million jury verdict (including $21 million in punitive damages) for five whistleblower truck drivers against Sysco Riverside, Inc.

Prior to Genie Harrison Law Firm, Mia served as a fellow and staff attorney at Equal Rights Advocates, a San Francisco-based organization that focuses on the rights of women and girls in employment and education. There, Mia provided advice and counseling to women and caregivers suffering from discrimination and harassment in the workplace. Mia also advocated for legislative and regulatory changes to increase protections for pregnant workers and caregivers in the workplace and co-wrote a white paper report that has been used to support legislation across the country. Mia also advocated for the employment rights of formerly-incarcerated women.

Mia graduated with honors from New York University School of Law (NYU Law), and the University of Pennsylvania School of Arts and Sciences.

At NYU Law, Mia served as the Co-Director of the Suspension Representation Project (aiming to reduce the suspensions of inner-city public school children in New York City), as a Student Advocate at the New York Civil Liberties Union (where she fought against the unconstitutional use of excessive force by police on a child in a public school), and an editor at NYU Review of Law and Social Change.

Before attending NYU Law, Mia served under the U.S. Department of Justice’s Outstanding Scholars Program as a paralegal at the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan, New York. There, Mia contributed to multiple trials battling the exploitation of civilians by organized crime groups and served on a trial that secured a verdict against a human trafficking ring along the East Coast that forced women into slavery.

Mia serves on the Board of Governors at the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA), where she co-Chairs Solo & Small Practice Firms, and where she co-Chaired Labor & Employment from 2022 to 2025. Mia also co-Chairs the Legislative Committee of the California Employment Lawyers Association (CELA), and volunteers as an attorney at Legal Aid at Work’s Workers Rights Clinic.

Mia is admitted to practice before the California state courts and the Central and Eastern Districts of California of the United States District Court.

When not working, Mia enjoys spending time with her husband and children. She also enjoys visiting her hometown in Hawaii.

Mia is conversant in Spanish.
