Attorney Information
Overview
Christopher Brantingham has been a practicing attorney since 2008. Over his years as an attorney, he developed a strong emphasis on cases involving catastrophic personal injury and insurance bad faith, and today these are his areas of practice as a seasoned litigator. He has litigated actions in California state and federal courts, recently obtaining a seven-figure settlement in a catastrophic vehicular accident, and a seven-figure settlement in a fire related property and profit loss case. His experience with insurance bad faith has included litigation on wrongful denials of benefits in injury and loss of property, including fire insurance, as well as failures by insurance companies to meet their duty to defend under policies of liability insurance.
Along with his present areas of practice, his past experience includes litigation in a broad array of other settings, including products liability, financial elder abuse, wrongful termination, fraud, and breach of contract. He has conducted numerous successful mediations; arbitration through to arbitrator's award; and engaged in appellate work before California's Second District Court of Appeals on the issue of negligent entrustment in the context of providing a vehicle to individuals using an alias. While his focus today is on catastrophic personal injury and insurance bad faith, the experience he has gained from these diverse settings have provided him with a strong skill-set that he looks forward to using each day to fight for his clients.
Christopher is a native of Southern California, having grown up in Ventura County, but has enjoyed extensive travel, having lived in South Africa and England. He is a graduate of Furman University in South Carolina, where he majored in History and Political Science, and the University of Alabama School of Law, where he received his juris doctor degree. In addition to being licensed in California, he is also licensed with the Alabama bar, which maintains reciprocal agreements for the practice of law with many other states in the country.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
