John earned his Juris Doctor from UC Hastings College of the Law (now UC Law San Francisco) in 2019, where he served as Vice President of the ADR and Negotiations Team and as Executive Acquisitions Editor of the Hastings Science and Technology Law Journal. He completed an externship with the California Court of Appeals under Justice Martin J. Jenkins and expanded his international perspective through a summer program at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany, focusing on ADR, mediation, and negotiation in the context of multinational contracts.

John previously earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, cum laude, from California State University, Long Beach in 2014.
