Attorney Information
Overview
Hello, I’m a native of Imperial County, California, a small rural agricultural community located in the southeast corner of California next to the US/Mexico Border. I attended local schools and graduated from UC San Diego with a B.A. in Literature/Writing in 2001.
After college I worked as a substitute teacher then as a reporter for the Imperial Valley press. I then became a paralegal before attending law school at the University of Arkansas Little Rock, William H. Bowen School of Law, where I obtained a J.D. degree with Honors in 2011.
I passed the California Bar Exam, the hardest in the nation, on my first try and shortly after went into private practice. Over the course of the past twelve years, I’ve focused my practice in the following areas: Bankruptcy, Child Custody, Civil, Divorce, Immigration, and Wills & Trusts.
I’ve helped clients discharge millions of dollars in debt, guided them through the divorce and child custody process, helped keep them from being deported, and helped them with their estate planning needs. I’d be more than happy to speak to you about your legal issues. Please contact my office to schedule a FREE consultation. Thank you.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
