Overview
Jonathan D. Larose is a seasoned divorce and family law attorney with more than two decades of experience representing clients throughout the Bay Area. Since being admitted to the California Bar in 2001, he has built a reputation for handling complex family law matters involving high-asset divorce, financial forensics, asset tracing, and sophisticated marital estates. Mr. Larose is well-known as a tough negotiator and formidable litigator.
Jonathan has both a Juris Doctor law degree and a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a finance emphasis.
As the founder of Larose Law in 2007, Jonathan leads one of the largest family law firms in Alameda County. His practice focuses on both family law litigation and high-level transactional work, including prenuptial agreements, long-term spousal support, deferred compensation, and business ownership interests involving corporations and LLCs. He is also highly experienced in relocation cases and international child custody disputes.
Jonathan is known for his ability to develop strategic, results-driven solutions in difficult cases, whether through negotiated settlement or aggressive litigation. He frequently represents clients in domestic violence restraining order matters and complex community property characterization and valuation disputes.
In addition to managing and mentoring the firm’s attorneys, Jonathan has served as a mock trial judge at U.C. Berkeley. His background in civil litigation, combined with his financial expertise and courtroom experience, gives clients a clear advantage in high-stakes divorce and family law cases.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
