Ibtisam (“Ibbi”) Shakir is an Associate Attorney at DeMaria Law Firm. Ms. Shakir earned her bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Michigan, and shortly after, she worked in the real estate industry, where she gained hands-on experience in real estate development, financing and title issues.
Ms. Shakir received her J.D from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2021 and passed the California Bar Exam in February 2024. During law school, Ms. Shakir participated in the Housing Law Clinic providing pro bono representation to low-income homeowners and helping them file appeals and challenge inflated property taxes.
Prior to joining DeMaria Law Firm, Ms. Shakir served as a public defender in Madera County where she represented indigent clients facing a wide range of criminal charges, from misdemeanors to serious felonies. Ms. Shakir continues to uphold the core principles of public defense: protecting rights and advocating for the firm’s clients with integrity and compassion.
