Hired Law firm 2024Harry Safarian (Aroutun Harry Safarian) of the Safarian Firm represented me in a frivolous case and I just fired him for lack of integrity, constant lies, manipulation, under-handed tactics, and it came to a point where I couldn't trust him anymore. He is probably one of the worst attorney's I have ever dealt with. I have hired some really good attorney's over the years and Harry is not one of them. He lacks a moral compass. He's a good talker but fails miserably on getting things done. He made promises he had no intentions to keep or act upon, provided poorly written rough drafts with names of other clients, and continued to mislead me over and over again. He constantly over-promised and under-delivered. I had to repeatedly ask him to do his job which he never did. He did me dirty. He repeatedly violated my legal rights and his representation was a joke. He takes malpractice to another level. He was recommended by State Farm Insurance and now I know why. After dealing with this clown for nine months (unfortunately), I understood quite-well that his fiduciary duty was to State Farm Insurance and not to me. That's probably why they recommended him. He prides himself on being an "Insurance attorney" so don't expect him to be on your side - ever. Overall, he acted in bad faith, made promises he had no intentions to keep nor deliver. When I criticized his poor representations, he took an offense, made false allegations against me, and then blocked me from contacting him. An attorney who can't take criticism? Other issues I realized when speaking with him was his lack of knowledge on the case even after having it for so many months. His intention was to pay out rather than defend. This is not someone you want on your side. My advice is to find an attorney who's on your side and not on the side of the insurance company.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
