Overview
Andrew H. Tran received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, Law, and Society from the University of California, Irvine. While initially majoring in Biology, he found his passion for law after taking an Introduction to Criminology, Law, and Society class. He immediately switched to a Criminology, Law, and Society major and concurrently worked as a research assistant for both a prominent sociology of law professor and white-collar and corporate crime professor.
After receiving his B.A., Andrew worked as a law clerk for a Bankruptcy and Taxation law office in Northern California where he gained extensive experience in both fields. Andrew entered Whittier Law School where he was the runner-up in the competitive Susan E. McGuigan Oral Advocacy Competition for first-year law students and became heavily involved in the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. Andrew received one of the highest grades in his Family Law and Community Property law classes. While in law school, Andrew interned for a family law practice located in Santa Ana.
After obtaining his Juris Doctorate from Whittier Law School, Andrew volunteered for the Domestic Violence Restraining Order Clinic in the Superior Court located in Chula Vista, California while studying for the California State Bar. Andrew worked with various individuals who needed assistance with their domestic violence disputes. While awaiting his bar results, Andrew worked as a law clerk for Hargreaves & Taylor, LLP, a prominent family law firm located in downtown San Diego where he assisted with trials and overall legal strategy. Upon passing the bar in February 2014, Andrew worked in various law firms of varying sizes in Los Angeles County, Orange County, and San Diego County where he gained extensive family law experience.
Andrew’s experience with Los Angeles County, Orange County, Riverside County, and San Diego County makes him a versatile individual with knowledge of local rules from all four counties. Andrew has experience with all areas of family law, including dissolution of marriage, legal separation, custody and visitation, grandparent visitation, move-away requests, child and spousal support, support arrears, pre-nuptial agreements, domestic violence restraining orders, and post-judgment modifications.

In a child support arrears case, Andrew helped a mother negotiate child support arrears owed by the father as he had not paid any child support since the parties’ divorce in 2013. Andrew was able to negotiate not only the full amount of the arrears owed by the father but also the father’s agreement to be responsible for the child’s college expenses which is support and maintenance that extends beyond the expiration of the statutory obligation for child support under California law.
