Attorney Information
Overview
Carole Azran is Of Counsel with EPGR Lawyers, is based in our Los Angeles office, and is a member of the Family Law Department. Carole has been practicing family law exclusively for over 25 years, successfully handling sophisticated and complex marital dissolution cases involving high-net-worth individuals, high-profile celebrities and athletes, and other clients involving valuation and division of marital assets, spousal and child support, child custody and visitation, breach of fiduciary duty issues, international child abduction issues and domestic violence. Carole has extensive experience in paternity matters and domestic torts. Her expertise makes her well-suited to represent her clients facing a variety of family law issues.
Prior to joining EPGR Lawyers, Carole was Of Counsel at Davies Wegner Law, and was a partner at the preeminent and highly-esteemed family law firm,
Kolodny Law Group, and its predecessor firms, Kolodny & Anteau and Law Offices of Stephen A. Kolodny. Her years of extensive experience working
side-by-side with the founding partner makes Carole a highly sought-after attorney, known for her broad knowledge of the law, compassion and integrity.
Carole was involved in a landmark appellate case which affected important issues in marital dissolution cases by creating new law and clarifying issues
which were previously unclear. In re Marriage of Dick (1993) 15 Cal.App.4th 144 (18 Cal.Rptr. 2d 743) established two important points of law: 1) That a foreign national who is not permitted to reside in California full time can still be considered a “resident” for jurisdictional purposes; and 2) That spousal support could be ordered to be paid retroactive to the date of filing of the Petition for Dissolution, even though an Order to Show Cause (now “Request for Order”) for spousal support was not filed at that time, something that practitioners did not believe possible under the statutes as then written. The legal effect of this case remains important even today. Carole was also involved in another appellate case, In re Marriage of Benjamins (1994) 26 Cal.App.4th 423 (31 Cal.Rptr. 2d 313) which held that a payment required pursuant to a non-modifiable martial settlement agreement terminated by operation of law upon the death of the recipient spouse.
Carole is also a Certified Divorce Coach. She provides strategies and tools to her clients to identify their needs and goals regarding such issues as community and separate property, finances, spousal and child support, custody, co-parenting, and even personal well-being.
Carole regularly volunteers at the Los Angeles County Bar Domestic Violence Project, located at the Los Angeles County Superior Court Stanley Mosk Courthouse, helping victims of domestic violence obtain court protection such as temporary restraining orders.
Carole is a long-standing member of The State Bar of California, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association and New Jersey State Bar Association.
