Attorney Information

Overview

Chris Navarro is a veteran music industry attorney serving as a trusted advisor and dealmaker in the global market. Chris counsels chart-topping artists, producers, and labels across their endeavors in recorded music, publishing, touring, branding, digital distribution, catalog sales, and strategic partnerships. His clients include música Mexicana leaders K Music (home to Luis R. Conriquez and Tony Aguirre), global hitmakers Eslabon Armado (“Ella Baila Sola”), super-producer Dímelo Flow, Gen Z sierreño star DannyLux, Chilean-American super star Paloma Mami, and Puerto Rico indie label OD Entertainment (managing Omar Courtz).

Before joining KHPS, Chris was a partner at a boutique entertainment law firm, after serving as Head of Business and Legal Affairs at Universal Music Latin Entertainment (UMLE). At UMLE he negotiated some of the decade’s most iconic collaborations, including Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” remix with Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber, and Beyoncé’s feature on J Balvin’s “Mi Gente.”

Chris earned his J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law, where he was recognized as one of the school’s top Trial Advocates, before pursuing an LL.M. in Entertainment and Media Law at Chapman University. He is admitted to practice in both California and Florida.

When he is not closing major music deals, Chris can usually be found spending time with family on the waters of the California coast boating and fishing.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
