Overview
Ms. Goldman has extensive experience representing celebrities and high-profile individuals in defamation, right of privacy, right of publicity, entertainment litigation matters, and alleged "Me Too" claims. She has represented her clients in connection with a variety of pre- and post-publication disputes with the media and has obtained the publication of numerous retractions, corrections and apologies in a wide variety of print and electronic publications throughout the US and abroad, in media formats including print publications, social media, news and entertainment websites, and radio and television news and entertainment programs, in outlets running the gamut from the National Enquirer to the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, UK Daily Mail, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, People Magazine, New York Daily News, Extra, VH1, the Daily Mirror, the Star, In Touch Magazine, ABC World News Tonight, the Associated Press, and Vanity Fair, and many more. Many occurred as a product of negotiation before filing suit, and others occurred after litigation was initiated. Having successfully obtained retractions and apologies in a variety of media, including apologies and retractions recited in open court, on-air apologies, and even front-page retractions, Ms. Goldman considers her greatest successes to be the stories never told because she persuaded the publisher that they would be actionable if published.
After graduating from UC Berkeley in 1982, Ms. Goldman obtained her JD from Loyola Law School in 1985, where was a Staff Member and then Business Editor of the Loyola Entertainment Law Journal. She is admitted to practice in the State of California and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Ms. Goldman is AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and was selected for inclusion in the inaugural edition of the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
