Attorney Information

Overview

Throughout his diverse practice which now spans over a quarter century, there has been one consistent principle uniting all of Mr. Morrison’s cases: the desire to protect the rights and dignity of ordinary citizens against the powerful and entrenched. Mr. Morrison has never represented corporations or the government. His clients are all employees (both private sector and government) and regular people who have been injured by the rich and powerful and are seeking help in their worst moments. “My job is to level the playing field between employees and employers, between ordinary citizens and those who hold the power. The courtroom is still one of the few places on earth where regular people can hold the powerful to account.”

A 1999 graduate of UCLA School of Law, Mr. Morrison began his career at the respected civil rights firm Schonbrun DeSimone Seplow Harris & Hoffman LLP (“Schonbrun DeSimone), where he rose to the position of Partner prior to his departure. At Schonbrun DeSimone, Mr. Morrison worked on individual employment matters (wrongful termination, harassment, and retaliation cases), complex litigation and class action work, police misconduct cases, sex abuse cases, international human rights cases, and appellate work (both criminal and civil). Mr. Morrison co-authored two merits briefs to the United States Supreme Court and personally argued matters that resulted in published appellate decisions in the federal circuit courts and state appellate courts. Mr. Morrison was also a member of the steering committee in the cases Clery I and Clergy II, which resulted in payouts exceeding $660 million dollars from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and $80 million from Diocese of Orange for childhood sexual abuse.

In 2010, Mr. Morrison left Schonbrun DeSimone to establish a complex litigation practice at the newly formed firm of Alexander Krakow + Glick, LLP (“AKG”) in Santa Monica, California. At AKG, Mr. Morrison became one of the leaders of the class action world, having settled tens of millions of dollars in cases and speaking regularly at conventions and seminars on complex litigation issues. Despite his class action success, Mr. Morrison never stopped litigating on behalf of individuals and maintained his individual employment and civil rights practice.

In 2020, Mr. Morrison became an equity and founding partner at the respected civil rights law firm Alexander Morrison + Fehr, LLP (“AMF”). At AMF, Mr. Morrison continued his diverse practice. This included: complex and class action litigation (wage and hour, equal pay act, and discrimination cases), police misconduct cases, sexual abuse cases, consumer litigation, and individual employment matters. Mr. Morrison also began a federal employee practice representing federal workers against the federal government. He is barred in the Court of Federal Claims in Washington D.C. where he represents federal employees in class actions seeking unpaid wages from the United States. Recently, one of Mr. Morrison’s cases – Lesko v. United States – was argued en banc before the Federal Circuit.

Mr. Morrison now joins Brock & Gonzales LLP (“B&G”) as their Director of Litigation, where he will use his vast experience and expertise to help guide and shape the various litigation departments comprising B&G in addition to serving as lead counsel on a number of high-profile cases. Mr. Morrison has known founding partners Aaron Brock and Erica Gonzales for years and is excited to join their growing and dynamic practice.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
