Results
- A $36.48 million verdict was awarded to a woman and her family involved in a trucking crash in Riverside County that left her partially paralyzed. The defense disputed both the cause of the crash and the nature and extent of the plaintiff’s injuries. After a month-long trial, however, the jury reached a verdict that rejected the defense’s position. (Ryan was part of the trial team).
- A $17.2 million settlement was obtained against the County of Los Angeles on behalf of a 4-year-old girl and her family. The child suffered severe facial injuries when a speeding Sheriff’s Deputy crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the vehicle taking her to school.
- A $12.5 million settlement was reached against a school district on behalf of the family of a young boy who was killed while crossing the street to reach an illegally located bus stop. The boy was forced to cross four lanes of traffic to reach a stop placed opposite his home, with no controlled crossing nearby and no crossing guards to assist.
- A $10 million settlement was secured for a client who suffered a spinal cord injury in an auto collision. The settlement provided the financial resources necessary to protect the client’s long-term medical and financial needs.
- A $10 million settlement was obtained for the family of a man who was killed when a gas truck ran a red light and collided with his vehicle.
- An $8,375,000 settlement was reached for a family of four who sustained serious injuries after their minivan was rear-ended by a big-rig tractor trailer.
- A $7,250,000 settlement was secured for the children of a mother who was killed when she was rear-ended by a San Bernardino County Sheriff.
- A $6,750,000 settlement was obtained against a tire manufacturer on behalf of a family injured when another truck, suffering a tire failure, crossed into their vehicle.
- A $6,100,000 policy-limits settlement was reached for an elderly woman who suffered severe injuries after being struck by a security guard while crossing the street.
- A $5,000,000 settlement was secured on behalf of a 60-year-old plaintiff whose 80-plus-year-old mother was killed in a motor vehicle collision.
- A $5,000,000 verdict, plus a finding of punitive damages, was obtained for two parents whose 22-year-old son was killed in a trucking-versus-auto crash. Their son was just days away from his 23rd birthday. In 2019, this was the largest wrongful death verdict in the state of Arizona. (Ryan served as co-trial counsel).
