Shane Hapuarachy - Los Angeles, CA

Shane’s approach to litigation mirrors his approach to life: success comes though thinking strategically, working hard and a willingness to take risks. He is a fierce competitor, but not just in the courtroom. Shane is an accomplished triathlete, a mixed martial artist, and a seasoned poker-player. Shane and his family are also three-time champions on the Family Feud! In short – Shane loves to win. Prior to joining Cheong, Denove, Rowell and Bennett in June 2014, Shane spent four years as an associate in the litigation group at Winston & Strawn, LLP. During his tenure at Winston, Shane gained extensive experience in all aspects of litigation, serving as lead counsel in over 65 different matters for one of the firm’s large, institutional clients. Shane was also heavily involved in the firm’s pro-bono activities. Shane’s pro-bono clients include a Honduran refugee seeking asylum in the United States based on political persecution, a family in East Los Angeles in need of legal help during their adoption proceedings, and an artist in a copyright infringement action seeking payment when one of his work’s had been improperly reproduced without his permission.

Shane attained his law degree from Loyola Law School. He was the recipient of a Public Interest Scholarship and graduated in the top 15% of his class. During law school, Shane was a member of the LAWASIA moot court competition team, and traveled to Kuala Lumpur to represent Loyola in LAWASIA’s international moot court competition. Shane still remains active with the team. In 2012, Shane served as an adjunct professor, coaching the team and accompanying the team to the international competition in Bali, Indonesia. Prior to law school, Shane attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned his Bachelors degree in Communication Studies and a Masters Degree in Public Policy.

Shane has also held a variety of professional positions prior to and during law school. Shane served as the Executive Officer for USC’s Department of Public Safety, the law enforcement agency of the university. In this role, he served as the Chief’s right hand man, managing the department’s legal and compliance efforts and acting as a liaison to the university and surrounding communities. Prior to USC, he held the position of State Director for Best Buddies California, an organization which works to enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilities. Shane has also worked for the Social Security Administration as a Social Insurance Specialist.

Shane lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Amber. Also a natural-born competitor, the two of them can be spotted around town, taking on the variety of challenges that life in California provides: skiing, snowboarding, triathlons, skydiving, beach-volleyball, and mountain-biking. They are also known to host a cut-throat game-night! Recently, the two decided to take on the ultimate challenge - their newly born son, Knox.
