Attorney Information

Overview

William (Bill) Becker is an employment litigation attorney at West Coast Trial Lawyers. Bringing more than thirty years of employment law experience to our firm, he is a graduate of the University of California’s Haas School of Business where he studied accounting and finance. He also obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of California where wrote an honors thesis on the early American labor movement. Bill continued his labor/employment law studies at UCLA School of Law, during which he volunteered at El Centro Legal where he assisted indigent persons to obtain public assistance and provided legal services to victims of domestic violence. Bill served as an intern for the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, DC, assisting the resolution of unfair labor practice complaints. He also served as an intern to the National Mediation Board and supported the Board during a threatened nationwide railroad strike.

Bill began his legal career representing public safety employees and was a zealous advocate for the Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs. He gained substantial disciplinary hearing experience early in his career which led him to embrace litigation and trial law. He also has worked as a management-side attorney with Jackson Lewis and Ballard Rosenberg & Golper where he developed a sub-specialty in wage/hour law. After observing the increase of wage/hour class action litigation in the late-1990s, Bill founded his own law firm where he aggressively pursued class action litigation for twenty years. His most notable cases include seven figure settlements in class action cases against armored transport companies and ground service employers at LAX. He has successfully tried cases to jury verdict in Los Angeles Superior Court and has litigated before the California courts of appeal. He has also successfully litigated a number of high profile cases against professional sports and entertainment figures.

Bill continues to be an aggressive advocate for employees in class action and Private Attorney General Act (“PAGA”) cases in addition to discrimination and harassment cases at WCTL. He is particularly adept in statistical analysis and use of AI litigation tools.

Outside work, Bill enjoys coaching youth sports, camping and cycling. He is active in his church and is a neighborhood watch captain.
