Overview
Rod Rummelsburg is of counsel to the Allan Law Group has extensive experience in Intellectual Property, Corporate and Commercial Law, Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution and Entertainment and Music Litigation. Mr. Rummelsburg leads our Intellectual Property practice and is a registered patent attorney with The United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Rummelsburg has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in litigation matters in California, numerous state and federal courts and various appellate courts including the Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals. He also practices in the areas of entertainment and music litigation, corporate law, litigation and arbitration.
Mr. Rummelsburg has considerable international legal experience and has represented public and private, domestic and multinational corporations on business, litigation and international negotiation matters in over 125 countries including, China, Brazil, India, The U. K., Russia, Egypt, as well as in the African, European, Asian and North and South American continents.
Mr. Rummelsburg also has a comprehensive understanding of all phases of software development, having worked for many years at the Jet Propulsion Lab at California Institute of Technology, TRW and Hughes Aircraft as a software engineer. He has also negotiated and structured telecommunication deals with numerous foreign government-owned utility companies.
Mr. Rummelsburg has worked closely with several government agencies, including The Commerce Department, the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Asset Control and the Federal Communications Commission.
Experience:
- Mr. Rummelsburg has filed countless patents, trademarks and copyright applications in the United States, and works with matters involving worldwide protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
- Mr. Rummelsburg successfully defended a client in a multimillion dollar dispute involving breach of contract, misappropriation of software and trade secrets.
- He won a $7.7 million dollar award against a city agency in an inverse condemnation matter.
- As in-house legal counsel for an Internet based direct marketing firm, Mr. Rummelsburg was responsible for representing the company in superior court in contract and tort vendor disputes and shareholder derivative actions. He was responsible for all phases of litigation, which included serving as first chair on an evidentiary hearing at an American Arbitration Association matter that included misappropriation of software and trade secrets.
- He won a multimillion dollar settlement for business interruption losses and bad faith against a national insurance company.
