Attorney Information

Overview

Rhonda has spent her entire career representing individuals against the abuses of the insurance industry. After graduating from Santa Clara University Law School in 1992, Rhonda obtained extensive insurance bad faith litigation experience, handling a variety of insurance bad faith cases involving all types of insurance claims, including: Homeowners (earthquake, fire, mold, and water claims), Liability, Health, Life/Accidental Death and Disability (group and individual policies).

Since 2002, Rhonda has focused her practice on helping individuals whose insurance companies have denied their claims for disability, life/accidental death, long-term care, and health insurance benefits. Rhonda especially enjoys assisting clients with the filing of administrative appeals should their denied claim be subject to ERISA. Under ERISA, an insured must file an administrative appeal before they can file a lawsuit against their insurance company. Throughout her career, Rhonda has obtained multi-million-dollar settlements and judgments on behalf of her clients and on appeal overturned hundreds of denied ERISA claims. However, whether a client's claim is large or small, Rhonda gives each client's case the time, attention and care it deserves.

When she is not fighting for her clients, Rhonda enjoys spending time with her husband and Labrador retriever, playing tennis, scuba diving and traveling.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
