Overview
Kendall VanConas has devoted her practice to helping families and individuals navigate the legally complex and often emotionally challenging areas of estate planning and elder law. A recognized expert in the specialized area of conservatorship law, Kendall’s clients find peace of mind through her attentive problem solving. Having served as trustee for her own family members, Kendall is sensitive to the issues that families face when dealing with a long-term illness. With thorough attention to detail, Kendall has also represented clients in the planning and administration of high value probate and trust estates.
Kendall graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in political science and received her law degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 1992. After a dozen years in practice, Kendall furthered her education and completed a five-year night program to obtain her master’s degree in taxation from Golden Gate University.
She is a Specialist in Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law, as certified by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization, and hold the rating of AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings,™ a designation that ranks Kendall among her peers at the highest level of professional excellence. Kendall was recognized by the Pacific Coast Business Times by inclusion on its list of “Who’s Who in Professional Services in the Tri Counties” (2012), and the “Top 50 Women in Business” (2018). She regularly presents at courses for continuing legal education in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, and special needs trusts.
Kendall has been actively involved with the Ventura County Bar Association (VCBA) since the early years of her practice. She served on the Client Relations Committee for more than 10 years and on the Executive Committee of the Probate & Estate Planning Section (chair, 2007 – 2009). In 2010, Kendall served as president of the Ventura County Bar Association and is member of the Oxnard Rotary Club (President, 2016-2017).
A near lifelong resident of Ventura County, Kendall and her husband have lived in Ventura for 28 years. She began her law practice with her family’s firm, Cohen and Cohen in Camarillo, and ran the firm as a sole practitioner for several years before joining A to Z Law as an associate attorney in 2003. Kendall became a partner with the firm in 2005 and a named partner in 2012. When not practicing law or running A to Z, Kendall enjoys cooking, entertaining, home decorating and cheering on the UCLA Bruins.
