Cherie Sutherland practices in the areas of commercial and complex litigation in which she handles cases emphasizing insurance and business contract disputes and their associated tort claims. She assists insurers in all phases of litigation including appeals. She also handles construction defect, securities litigation, premises liability, landlord-tenant disputes, and personal injury litigation. She has been involved in all aspects of litigation, including discovery, dispositive motions, pre-trial motions, and jury trials.
Cherie is admitted to practice before all courts of the State of California and the United States District Court for the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts.
Cherie received from California State University, Sacramento a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Government and Communication Studies in 1995 and a Master of Arts degree in Government in 2000. She conferred her law degree from Santa Clara University Law School in 2001. She received a High Technology Law Certificate and was a member of the Honors Moot Court Board.
Prior to law school, Cherie worked as a legislative aide for members of the California State Assembly. At the State Capitol, she wrote press releases, speeches and analyzed and administered legislation.
