Joshua D. Ricafort - Roseville, CA

Joshua Ricafort is a resident of the greater Sacramento area where he has practiced law for most of his legal career.

Born in the Philippines, Mr. Ricafort completed his secondary education in Dallas, Texas before relocating to California, where he has lived ever since. Mr. Ricafort received his Bachelor of Arts in Government from California State University, Sacramento, and his Juris Doctor from John F. Kennedy School of Law. While in law school, Mr. Ricafort served as a certified law student representative, gaining valuable courtroom experience by advocating on behalf of tenants in landlord/tenant disputes.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ricafort built an extensive career with the California Franchise Tax Board spanning more than a decade. Beginning in February 2014, he served in progressively senior roles as a Collector, Collections Lead, and Technical Advisor for FTB's collection program, where he managed some of the agency's most complex collection matters, including cases involving active litigation.

In April 2022, Mr. Ricafort transitioned to an attorney position within FTB's Tax Administration and Procedure Bureau before moving to the Specialized and Individual Tax Bureau. In that capacity, he briefed and represented FTB's position before the Office of Tax Appeals in more than 60 appeals, addressing a broad range of issues including penalties, residency determinations, athlete duty day ratios, frivolous action non-filers, and many others.

In December 2023, Mr. Ricafort moved to FTB's Litigation Bureau, where he handled complex collection cases in federal and state courts as well as appellate courts, and served as general counsel for the collection program, advising on a wide array of legal issues pertaining to collections.

Concurrent with his tenure at FTB, Mr. Ricafort also served as an Of Counsel attorney at Pacifica Law Group from November 2021 until February 2025, where he handled dissolutions of marriage, child custody, support, division of assets, and domestic violence restraining order matters.

In February 2025, Mr. Ricafort joined the firm as an Of Counsel attorney before becoming a Managing Partner in April of 2026.

Mr. Ricafort's practice today focuses primarily on family law and ancillary tax issues. His years of experience at the Franchise Tax Board have equipped him with a distinctive set of tools that he brings directly to his family law clients, including expertise in matters such as innocent spouse relief.

Mr. Ricafort is committed to understanding each client's unique personal situation and crafting practical, cost-effective legal strategies tailored to their individual goals and best interests.

When he is not working on his cases and serving his clients, Mr. Ricafort enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He is an avid ocean fisherman, a self-described wannabe BBQ pitmaster, and a multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, bass guitar, piano, and drums. Mr. Ricafort is an active member of his church's worship team, where he plays electric guitar and bass guitar during services.
