Rebecca received her Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Marietta College in Marietta, OH and her Juris Doctorate at the University of New Mexico School of Law in Albuquerque, NM. A recipient of the 2011 Bergstrom Child Welfare Law Fellowship and received specialized training in child welfare law at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor Law School. She graduated magna cum laude in 2012, with Order of the Coif, and the Health Law Award for her graduating class.

Rebecca’s interest in family law began while in law school. While in law school, she worked and volunteered for the New Mexico Children’s Law Center and Pegasus Legal Service for Children, a non-profit law firm specializing in children’s law. Upon admission to the California Bar in 2013, Rebecca began practicing family law in Sacramento and Placer Counties. She has special knowledge and interest in the areas of child welfare law and special education law, particularly with how they interact in child custody and dissolution matters.

Rebecca moved to the area in the summer of 2012 with her family. Together, they enjoy the many outdoor activities in the area, especially snowshoeing, hiking and camping. She also enjoys cheering her children on in their various activities through school and the community.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
