Mrs. Barbour is without any question the single most principled attorney that l have had the opportunity to work with. Mrs. Barbour commitment to doing her part to uphold justice in accordance with the law is complete unison with her desperate moral beliefs. The fact that her arguments are rooted in the law, and not governed by some urge for political gain, or swayed by some personal bias, has enabled her to develop a pattern of moral correctness that judges who are familiar with her have come to recognize. It is this deeply rooted honesty enabled her to gain the undivided attention of the judge when she addresses the court. Her professional opinion matters. It enabled a judge who has not had the opportunity to hear the perspective of often the less fortunate of our society, and levy justice with a hand of mercy. As an officer of the court, Mrs. Barbour has not only the weight of the sixth Article of the United States Constitution to uphold, but even a higher moral obligation to the God in whom we trust. I am certain that if any of us ever get to hear those seven words that we all would like to hear in the end... Mrs. Barbour will be amongst those who hear Him say... Well done, my loyal and faithful servant.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
