Overview

Ashley M. Harvey is an associate attorney in the Sacramento office of Bold, Polisner, Maddow, Nelson & Judson, A Professional Corporation. Prior to joining BPMNJ, Ashley served as a Deputy District Attorney IV with the Yolo County District Attorney's Office, where over the course of her time with the office she focused on consumer fraud, environmental protection, worker's compensation fraud, and general criminal cases. She conducted thirteen trials in Superior Court, including a seventeen-day civil trial, across a broad range of felony, misdemeanor, and civil matters. During a six-year assignment in the office's civil litigation unit, Ashley performed extensive research and investigation involving an array of civil issues, conducted depositions and investigatory oral examinations, propounded discovery, and ran settlement conferences with defendants and defense counsel. Among her general criminal unit assignments, Ashley made daily court appearances, drafted and argued complex motions, and supported crime victims in their fight for justice. Before her time at the DA's office, Ashley served as a Law Fellow with Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility in Washington, D.C., where she conducted research and drafted legal complaints under the National Environmental Policy Act and the Clean Water Act. Ashley brings that depth of courtroom and advocacy experience to her practice at BPMNJ, where she focuses on trusts and estates litigation and general civil litigation.

Ashley received her Bachelor of Science, with a double major in Psychology and Sociology, Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University in Tallahassee. She earned her Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida, her home state, where she received certificates in Environmental Law and International and Comparative Law. Ashley is admitted to practice in both California and Florida.

Ashley is an active member of the Sacramento County Bar Association, the Yolo County Bar Association, and the Schwartz-Levi Inn of Court. She has served on the SacLegal Board of Directors since 2017 and was Co-Chair from 2019-2020. A lifelong advocate for the environment, Ashley is passionate about eco-conscious living and sustainability.

In her free time, Ashley most enjoys spending time with her daughter and her fiancé, Matt Coombs, the Defensive Coordinator for UC Davis Aggie Football.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
