Iris Kristoff - Sacramento, CA

Iris Kristoff represents and works with a variety of clients on addressing and resolving labor and employment-related issues. Her practice focuses on advising and counseling California and multi-state employers on managing day-to-day employment issues, ranging from wage and hour compliance issues, preparing leave of absence related communications, risk reduction strategies for employee layoffs and terminations, designing and updating employer handbooks and policies, to advising on transactional employment matters, including employee separation agreements and negotiations. Iris also focuses on helping employers address new developments in state and federal legislation, equal employment opportunity laws and policy, pay equity issues, and "MeToo"-related legislation.

Iris has experience litigating employment-related disputes on behalf of employers and employees, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims, as well as wage and hour claims, in state and federal courts, as well as before various governmental agencies including the California Labor Commissioner, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and in arbitration proceedings.

Iris attended Emory University where she earned her law degree and her Master of Public Health, with a concentration in Policy and Management. During law school, she served as a law clerk for Administrative Law Judge Lana Layton in the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Hearings Unit. Throughout law school and post-graduate school, Iris worked as a policy and research analyst at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and her work was selected for publication in the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice. She draws on her policy background to assist employers of all sizes with all aspects of the employment relationship, from new hire and onboarding requirements, employment contracts and arbitration agreements, to employment-related policies and practices, including methods to reduce labor costs while maximizing multi-state workplace compliance.
