Attorney Information
Overview
Holly Haeseler, Esq., is a New York- and Florida-licensed attorney seeking California licensure, with a multifaceted legal background spanning criminal law, contracts, securities, and business. She brings to Butler Law, PC a strong foundation in litigation, strategic problem-solving, and client advocacy.
Prior to relocating to the West Coast, Ms. Haeseler served as an Assistant District Attorney in Queens County, New York City, where she gained significant courtroom experience and advocated for victims of crime through highly sensitive and often traumatic circumstances. Her ability to remain composed in high-stakes situations while approaching clients with empathy has translated naturally to family law, where effective representation requires both sound legal strategy and an understanding of the deeply personal issues at stake.
Ms. Haeseler’s experience also extends beyond the courtroom. She previously worked for Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch in New York City and later co-founded a technology consulting firm on the West Coast. This combination of legal, financial, and entrepreneurial experience provides her with a well-rounded perspective when approaching the complex financial and practical considerations that can arise in family law matters.
Ms. Haeseler earned her Juris Doctor cum laude from Stetson University College of Law, where she was a member of the nation’s #1-ranked Trial Team. She placed first in a Florida Trial Lawyers competition and was a finalist in Georgetown’s National White Collar Crime competition. She also studied International Law in Tallinn, Estonia.
Outside of her practice, Ms. Haeseler is a mother of six—three humans and three cats. She enjoys reading and writing thrillers, reality television, beekeeping, hiking, and snorkeling in La Jolla.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
