Before moving to the defense side of the bar, Mark Deniz was an award-winning prosecutor for almost 10 years. He has spent years as both a Deputy District Attorney and a San Diego Deputy City Attorney. He was trained on the handling of Domestic Violence cases, the cycle of violence identification, and finding independent evidence. He was trained at the Department of Justice National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina. His time as a San Diego Prosecutor helped establish him with prosecutors and Judges, who he now works with on behalf of his clients. Mark Deniz was assigned to the Domestic Violence and Family Protection unit in San Diego. While as both a Prosecutor and Defense Attorney, he has handled the range of criminal defense spectrum of basic misdemeanors to the most serious felony cases. San Diego Domestic Violence Defense Attorney Mark Deniz as specialized his practice in Criminal Law, since he became an attorney in 2003. Before becoming an attorney, he has worked in the Sheriff's Department, County Counsel's Office, and worked with senior citizens.
Attorney Mark Deniz is a native of Southern California. He earned a scholarship playing college football and was awarded the honor of Academic All-American.
After college, he spent a few years as a high school educator and a varsity football coach. He then followed his dreams and attended law school.
Mr. Deniz learned the prosecution's side of the law from the inside out, with all its strengths and weaknesses. This is unique and vital knowledge for a defense attorney. Preferring private practice and being well-armed with the first-hand experience as a San Diego Domestic Violence Prosecutor, Mr. Deniz opened his own practice focusing on criminal cases. He teaches CLEs on domestic violence to other lawyers via MCLE training. With his depth of experience, he knows how to get favorable results. He knows there is a way to work with clients with compassion, instead of the impersonal approach found in many law firms, and those without the knowledge of the inner workings of the prosecution. His firm helps people get through very tough times.
