Thomas B. Goode is a founding partner of the San Diego law firm of Goode | Hemme. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Goode was extensively involved in key areas of real estate including real estate development, mortgage banking and commercial brokerage having served as Vice President of Operations for a real estate development firm and a management consulting firm. Mr. Goode is exceptionally skillful at promptly providing creative and cost-effective solutions to avoid costly, protracted disputes. He demonstrates an exceptional mastery of professional skills and conduct, especially regarding formidable and challenging issues.

Mr. Goode is a specialist in Landlord/Tenant law both commercial and residential. This area of the law is highly regulated with legal landmines at every turn. Whether negotiating a lease, analyzing complex lease language which frequently has long-term important implications for clients, or representing a landlord or tenant in an eviction proceeding, Mr. Goode consistently achieves recognition and appreciation from his clients for a job well done.

In addition to his law practice, Mr. Goode provides mediation services for real estate and business disputes. As a seasoned professional, he is well-versed in the issues that commonly arise in such disputes which enables him to formulate solutions that resonate with the parties—a skill critical to effective mediation. He is fully prepared to efficiently and knowledgeably guide the parties through mediation in an effort to avoid the potential expense, time, and frustration of litigation. Even more importantly, early resolution of a dispute restores peace to the parties and enables them to return to more productive endeavors.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
