Attorney Information
Overview
My practice is devoted to immigration and visa services, including applications for permanent residence and preparation of temporary visa petitions, applications for naturalization, applications for political asylum and U visas, and providing strategic planning advice.
I have been certified as a Legal Specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California. I represent clients before the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Department of Labor.
I solely practice U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law. During law school, I externed with the Honorable Carlos R. Moreno, United States District Court, Central District, California. I previously worked at a boutique immigration law firm and at a large, corporate immigration law firm.
Additionally, I am active in the immigration law field as well as the local San Francisco community through teaching and her work on various boards. I also provide pro bono legal services through the Volunteer Immigration Program of the San Francisco Bar Association and the AIDS Legal Referral Panel. Originally from Los Angeles, I am now a longtime resident of San Francisco. I am married and have a daughter.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
