Overview

Peter Meringolo is an accomplished plaintiff-side business litigation and insurance recovery attorney. Since 1998, Peter has represented businesses, entrepreneurs, executives, artists, and start-ups in cases throughout California in a wide variety of business-related matters, including, but not limited to, insurance coverage disputes, breach of contract, intellectual property disputes (trademark and copyright infringement), breach of fiduciary duty, and fraudulent transfer. Peter has significant and substantial complex litigation experience, representing clients in state and federal courts and in various ADR proceedings.

Insurance recovery is a significant focus of Peter's law practice. Peter exclusively represents corporate and individual policyholders in the pursuit of insurance coverage under all forms of insurance policies, including Comprehensive General Liability, Directors & Officers, First Party Property, Business Interruption, Employment Practices, and Homeowner policies.

Since 2017, Peter has represented dozens of property owners and businesses with respect to insurance claims arising from tragic losses in California wildfires. These representations include advice, negotiation with carriers, and litigation. Peter has filed several lawsuits on behalf of clients against insurance companies and insurance brokers arising from wildfires, including lawsuit related to underinsurance issues.

Peter graduated with a B.A. in 1991 from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. in 1998 from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. While at Hastings, Peter served as the Senior Executive editor of the Hastings Law Journal. In recognition for his work on the Hastings Law Journal, Peter received an Outstanding Service and Achievement Award from the Hastings 1066 Foundation and the Albert G. Evans Award in Private Enterprise. Peter was also a member of the 1997-98 Hasting Moot Court Board. Prior to Co-Founding PMRK Law, Peter was the Managing Partner of Snyder, Miller & Orton LLP for seven years, and worked at the prestigious law firms of Morrison & Foerster, Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, and Gilbert LLP.

Peter gives freely of his time as a volunteer board member and pro bono attorney. Peter has worked on pro bono matters assisting veterans, immigrants, and others in need, including through the wonderful organization of Swords to Plowshares. Throughout the years, Peter has served on the boards of various non-profit organizations, including the Embarcadero YMCA, the Dominican School of Philosophy & Theology, the Yale Center for Faith & Culture, and Catholic Charities of San Diego.
