Attorney Information
Overview
Rebecca represents large and small businesses, policyholders, contractors, employers, executives, entrepreneurs and individuals in a variety of litigation and advisory matters in insurance recovery, breach of fiduciary duty, bad faith, underinsured and breach of contract, corporate mismanagement and fraudulent transfer claims.
Rebecca's insurance recovery practice is focused on representing policyholders in coverage disputes, in the purchase, renewal, and evaluation of coverage, and in analyzing potential claims that may trigger coverage. She exclusively represents homeowners and businesses in recovering insurance from insurance companies and insurance brokers and agents following the tragic wildfires that have burned across California.
Rebecca has over 20 years of complex litigation experience representing clients in state and federal courts and in various ADR proceedings throughout California and Minnesota. She has litigated landmark insurance coverage cases, securing hundreds of millions of dollars of disputed insurance proceeds for her policyholder clients. Her experience includes claims under Comprehensive General Liability, Homeowners, Directors & Officers, First Party Property, Business Interruption, and Employment Practices policies. She has tried, and won, significant cases involving missing policies, non-products coverage for asbestos-related injuries and bad faith claims. Rebecca's litigation experience also includes claims against insurance brokers and agents for professional negligence, breach of contract and warranty claims on behalf of her construction clients, complex and emotional partnership disputes, and ERISA breach of fiduciary duty class action cases on behalf of employees.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
