Overview

After graduating Cum Laude from California State University, Northridge with a degree in Business Management – Organizational Systems Management in 1988, Cheryl L. Walsh graduated from Loyola Law School in 1991. She opened the first Elder Law division at the Law Office of Stein, Hanger, Levine and Young in 1993. Later, she founded the Law Offices of Cheryl L. Walsh in 1995 in Simi Valley, California, which she relocated to San Juan Capistrano, California in 1997. Her Elder Law practice focuses on Estate Planning including Special Needs Trusts, Trust Administration, Probate, Conservatorship, Trust and Elder Abuse litigation.

Ms. Walsh served on the Board of Directors of the Ventura County Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, Speaker’s Bureau of the Los Angeles County Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, and has been a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys since 1994. Ms. Walsh served as a Probate Volunteer Panel Attorney for the Los Angeles Superior Courts and currently serves on the Panel for Court-Appointed Attorneys and Guardians ad Litem in the Orange County Superior Court. She has volunteered for the free Conservatorship Clinics at the Orange County Superior Court, and has provided free legal advice at the San Juan Senior Center for more than 10 years. Ms. Walsh was honored by the City of San Juan Capistrano Senior Center for providing volunteer legal services to seniors in the City of San Juan Capistrano.

Ms. Walsh served as Chairperson and member of the Board of Directors of the Elder Law Section of the Orange County Bar Association, as well as Chairperson and member of the Board of Directors for the Conservatorship, Guardianship, and Protective Proceedings Section of the Orange County Bar Association.

Ms. Walsh has served as a presenter for the National Business Institute, Rotary, Edward Jones Investments, Mission Hospital, and a variety of other hospitals, senior centers, caregiver conferences and planned giving seminars throughout Southern California. She has contributed articles in the California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform Advocate publication. Ms. Walsh served as a contributor to the continuing education for Orange County Bar Association members in the Practice Pointers Portal, and was a featured presenter on the Trusts and Estates Section podcast of the California Lawyers Association.

Ms. Walsh has been married to her husband, Brian for 34 years and has 3 children: Shane, McKenzie and Kerrigan. She enjoys walking at the beach, traveling, working out, walking their Gerbarian Shepsky, Kaya, German Shepard, Jett, and spending time with family and friends.
