Robert M. Helfend brings extensive trial experience to every matter we accept, having represented clients in over 4,000 criminal cases throughout his career. We believe that the outcome of a criminal matter is often shaped well before trial. For that reason, we act as soon as a client comes to us, whether they have already been arrested or simply suspect they are the subject of a law enforcement investigation. Acting early gives us the opportunity to intervene with investigators, correct misunderstandings and prevent avoidable missteps that could otherwise harm a client's position.
Every defense we build rests on the same foundation: the government must prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt, and we hold prosecutors to that standard without exception. We closely examine physical evidence, forensic conclusions and witness statements, and we are prepared to file suppression motions when evidence has been gathered unlawfully.
