Overview

Larisa Mortazavi is a Vice President at Rossi Law Group, where she manages the firm’s lien department and defends workers’ compensation claims of all levels of complexity. A founding member of the firm, Larisa has been with Rossi Law Group since its inception at the beginning of 2012 and brings deep institutional knowledge and leadership to a core area of the firm’s practice.

Larisa began her workers’ compensation career working with James Rossi in the workers’ compensation defense department of Crandall Wade & Lowe before transitioning to Rossi Law Group at its founding. Her practice includes both cases-in-chief and lien matters, and she represents self-insured employers, third-party administrators, and insurance carriers in the defense of claims brought by allegedly injured workers.

In addition to her workers’ compensation practice, she has served as general counsel to a private nonprofit foundation dedicated to supporting children and advancing environmental causes.

Larisa earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley and her Juris Doctor from the USC School of Law. While in law school, she served on the Southern California Interdisciplinary Law Journal and completed an international law program in comparative labor and employment law while studying in Budapest, Hungary, and Prague, Czech Republic.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
