Overview

Carlos is a highly experienced litigator who works as Associate Attorney at LNN.

Carlos earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, in Berkeley, California in August 2012. Throughout his undergraduate years, Carlos played tuba (“bass”) for the California Marching Band, attending dozens of sports and school spirit events and fostering his continued love of music.

After graduating from U.C. Berkeley, Carlos worked as an immigration law paralegal for nearly five years before attending Southwestern Law School in 2018, where Carlos earned his Juris Doctor. In law school, Carlos pursued various interests that broadened the depth of his legal experience, as well as his capacity for representing the interests of clients going through some of the most difficult times in their lives. Carlos volunteered for legal clinics related to immigration law on and off campus, including assisting families apply for asylum, SJIS, and/or U-Visa provisional legal status in the United States. Carlos also interned or externed for three public entities: the Organized Crime Division of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office; the United States District Court, Central District of California, under a District Court Judge; and the Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General, Civil Rights Enforcement Section, where he accumulated over 200 hours of public service. Carlos also served as an on-campus Co-Vice President for the Latino Law Students Association, Co-President for the Immigration Law Students Association, Brief Writer for the Ninth Circuit Appellate Litigation Clinic, and Oralist for the Moot Court Honors Program.

After graduating from law school, Carlos worked nearly three years as a Research Attorney (formerly Law Clerk) for the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, in which role Carlos worked for two Independent Calendar Court judges and independently prepared recommended rulings for all but one category of motions before his assigned Department, with 1,300+ total recommended rulings, including many multi-motion rulings. In July 2024, upon a referral from a friend/mentor, Carlos moved to WorkWise Law, PC, a litigation boutique in Calabasas, California, which provides advice and counsel services for employers, as well as defense litigation representation in wage-and-hour and Fair Employment and Housing Act (“FEHA”) cases.

In July 2025, Carlos began working as an Associate Attorney at LNN, where he has been working under the mentorship of Jacob Nalbandyan in the Employment Department. Carlos’s approach to litigation is informed by a multifaceted view of the law, including as a neutral advisor to judges, a defense attorney, and now a plaintiff’s attorney, and focuses on firm boundaries with reasonable flexibility to advance the firm’s clients’ interests in high-stakes cases.

Outside of his legal work, Carlos enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and their dog, Thunder. In particular, the family enjoys seeing friends and family for play dates, going to the park and indoor play places, playing soccer, and otherwise having fun with the little ones. Carlos’s personal interests include learning how to play musical instruments (currently teaching himself to play and read music for flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, and tenor saxophone), reading books or more likely listening to audiobooks during personal commutes (personal favorites being the Otherland series by Tad Williams and The Law of the Land by Charles Rembar), and following his favorite sports team, S.S.C. Napoli.
