Overview

Aubrey (Cairns) Mauritson was born and raised in Lemon Cove, Tulare County, where she and her family farm citrus. Mrs. Mauritson's family has farmed in the Lemon Cove and Lindsay areas since the late 1800's. Her practice is solely focused on water law issues and representing water-related public and private entities. She is very active in the local implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act of 2014 (SGMA).

Mrs. Mauritson previously practiced civil litigation, land use and water law at Perry, Johnson, Anderson, Miller & Moskowitz in Sonoma County, where her husband’s family farms wine grapes and operates a family winery. In Sonoma County, her practice included representing several water agencies and routinely advising clients on employment-related matters including employment discrimination issues and wage and hour cases. She also worked on several CEQA litigation cases.

Mrs. Mauritson previously worked for the Fresno County Farm Bureau, where her position required monitoring state and federal legislation as well as advocating for Farm Bureau members at the local government level. She has been a contributor to Farm Bureau publications updating members on recent laws and issues. Mrs. Mauritson returned to the Central Valley in 2015 to continue running her family farming operation.

Mrs. Mauritson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in the Legal Environment of Business, summa cum laude, from Fresno State. She graduated from McGeorge School of Law, with distinction. At McGeorge, Mrs. Mauritson studied water law, land use, environmental law, as well as international water law and was awarded a Witkin Award for academic excellence in water law.
