Bad attorney. I needed help. He let me and my family down. I do not recommend. He rips people off. Terrible attorney.

I am writing this review with intense pain and regret. Regret is that I fell for the sweet talks of Vernon Ellicott of him saying that he would protect me. He even said he has a photographic memory to which I thought what better could any person expect from their lawyer than to remember all the laws that he has read. Once they had taken my money I had to chase them for an answer. Constant emails and calls were unheard and were replied with dumb answers like "we are working on it" and anything they could stick us with, by the time they sent me their review it was everything that I myself had communicated with them. They had copied and pasted everything in it and it meant nothing to me. It was a feeling of disgust after reading such a response from Vernon Ellicott and which he doesn't realize its playing with other people's life's. I would urge everyone to please look for a different firm and most of all go to a person who realizes that their profession is to make people's life's better not to just take their money, sell them lies and then fool around with their lives with wasting their time and chance at life.

I am sorry you had that experience, but it wasn’t with me. I have never met you nor represented you and I do not know who you are. (You know attorneys have to keep very good records of who they represent or even interview for conflict-of-interest purposes.) If you contact me and I did represent you, I will give you a complete refund. If you contact me and I did not represent you, I will represent you for free. Please call me or set up a phone appointment with me at www.calendly.com/vle-2 so I can assist you. I emailed you twice but you did not return my emails or respond to me.

Horrible service. Would never recommend to anyone. No one ever replied to my emails or calls. They're just here to take your money. Had to everything myself.

I wish I could give them negative stars!!! Extremely horrible and unprofessional bunch of people. We paid Vernon Ellicott a lot of money and yet no one had any clue about the case. Upon requesting a refund, there was no response for months and finally, they came back saying they will only give us back less than 50%. The funny thing is when asked why they were deducting 5-60% the and proof of any work they did...all the office manager could tell us was 1 paralegal made 1 phone call to find out what the procedure is. Avoid this scum bag at all costs.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
